Spring Welcome

Welcome to the Highlands Field Hockey Club (HFHC) Spring Training

Coaches Ali, Gina, Janelle, and Jordan are the head coaches for the HFHC.  We are excited to be your daughters’ coaches for the 2020 Spring FH season. We are all former high school and college players – from Northern Highlands Regional High School and Pompton Lakes High School, as well as Montclair State University and The College of New Jersey. The Highlands Field Hockey Club program is rich in tradition and success, and our aim is to continue to build that legacy.

Coaching is a professional privilege which allows us to educate young people through the game of field hockey. It is more than creating a well-established program or winning championships. As coaches, we get the opportunity to make an impact on young women’s lives. It is our responsibility to help our players to make good decisions on the field and mature decisions in all areas of their lives. We are committed to using our knowledge, abilities and resources to make each player successful. It is important to us to create an environment where the athletes are not afraid to push themselves and each other to work hard, and to work together to achieve a common goal. We win as a team and we lose as a team. We look out for our teammates, always! We believe that the lessons we learn throughout our sporting experience will carry over into our everyday lives. Team work, mutual respect, commitment, and hard work are all building blocks to good character and by achieving this, we will be successful!

Attendance: Please use the online RSVP system to mark your daughter’s attendance before each practice, or as soon as you know she will not make a practice. Mouth guards, sticks, goggles and shin guards are required at all practices. Remember to bring enough water as well. And lastly, make sure to send your daughters with the appropriate clothing, especially, when the temps drop.

Safety: HFHC players are expected to wear mouth guards, shin guards, and goggles for every practice. The game is played at high speed with a stick and a ball. Players are expected to pay attention at all times and to be aware of their stick and their teammates’ sticks at all times.

Work Ethic and Attitude: The coaches want only highly motivated athletes who desire to make themselves and the team the best that they can be! We expect nothing less than 100% effort and cooperation from every player.

Parent Concerns and Communication: We encourage the players to go to her coach if she is confused or concerned about her role on the team or her playing time in scrimmages. If there is still concern, the parent and the athlete are encouraged to make an appointment to speak to the coach. Parents are encouraged to contact the coach directly with concerns regarding your daughter’s health and/or safety.

More information about practice schedules will be sent in an email to follow. We are all looking forward to a wonderful spring field hockey season with your daughters!!!

Sincerely,

Coaches Ali, Gina, Janelle, and Jordan
